FIRM is again pleased to host Lead Safe Work Practices (LSWP)Training for Contractors and others as part of our Lead Hazard Control Grant subcontract with the City of Fresno. All people working in pre-1978 housing are required to have LSWP training and certification so they know how to prevent Lead Hazards. Lead is a poisonous heavy metal that is particularly dangerous to children under 6 whose brains are developing. Exposure to lead in dust from chipping, peeling paint in older homes and apartments can cause permanent brain damage and learning problems. Children living in Fresno’s oldest neighborhoods are some of the most at risk in the state of exposure to lead and lead poisoning.
Attendance at the 8 hour course, together with passing a short exam at the end, provides EPA-HUD certification to the individual. This training is FREE and will be offered on two different days: Friday, May 16 and Monday, May 19 from 8-5 pm. Our trainer will be Linda Kite, State Certified Lead Home Inspector and Risk Assessor, and Executive Director of the L.A. Healthy Homes Collaborative.
Please share this information with your contacts and anyone you know who may benefit from this training! Click here for a flyer. To register, simply call FIRM at 487-1500 and ask to speak to Sophia or Paula.
