This month I’d like to depart from my column on FIRM staff members to report from to board to you, our partners and supporters.
The FIRM board is growing with new members who bring great insights, new enthusiasm, and professionalism to our leadership. We are blessed to have a committed and engaged board of directors during this time of transition.
Concerning the search for an executive director, we are proceeding with precision, care, and thoughtfulness in a guided process. We are taking one step at a time, developing a sense of where we are and where we are going as a means to creating a vision for the person we need to fill this vital role.
We believe that FIRM’s best years lie ahead as we build on the strong foundation others have laid.
As long as people with great dreams and aspirations keep coming to America, we will have new Americans. We will serve them and learn from them and the rich cultures they bring to us. We have come to a time when a new generation of new Americans has emerged and is ready to take the lead.
Needs change; opportunities and challenges change; the landscape of the Community Benefit Organization world changes, but our basic commitment remains the same: to share Christ’s love to build communities of hope with new Americans.
Your board remains dedicated to this purpose and to finding the right leader for the next decade or more of our growth.
In the meantime, we are so blessed to be led by the Rev. Sophia Dewitt and Paula Cha, our co-interim-directors who are doing a magnificent job steering the ship and facilitating our wonderful staff. FIRM is in great hands with a grand future.
