Spring Break week (Holy Week) was an incredibly busy and fruitful week for FIRM!
- Over 350 people attended the 3rd Annual National Poison Prevention Week Fair on March 24, with food, fun, games and cultural entertainment.
- Breakaway 2018 is a ministry of The People’s Church that brings young people to Fresno during Spring Break to serve the community. We partnered with Breakaway to provide the day camp for children in the refugee community. We partnered with Breakaway to provide a day camp for 40 children in the refugee community (Syrian and Southeast Asian) at FIRM. 60 volunteers served at FIRM through Breakaway this year from People’s Church and from the First Presbyterian Church of Easton.
- Partnering with I Heart Fresno at The Well to remove the largest stump in FIRM history (and much more).
- The FIRM Family Literacy Center held its annual Easter egg hunt and potluck on March 28.
- FIRM Executive Director Zack Darrah preached at the United Japanese Christian Church lock-in, and the I Heart Fresno evening worship service at The Well Fig Garden campus.
- FIRM cosponsored and hosted the incredible My Lai Memorial Exhibit with Veterans for Peace and Peace Fresno.
- FIRM provided a stove and refrigerator for a newly resettled Afghan refugee family.
Many thanks to the 150 volunteers that made the week possible, People’s Church, The Well, Veterans for Peace, Peace Fresno, Every Neighborhood Partnership and the many supporters that allow us to serve the community in this way!!!!
