We are pleased to announce that our new family literacy program will be opening on August 12, 2013. Our family literacy program serves families with children ages 0 to 5 years old, in addition to older siblings and other family members.
Our program promotes family involvement through active parent participation, workshops, referrals and family events. One focus of the program will be to encourage the involvement of fathers, grandparents, and other family members to participate in the activities. We believe that education starts at home and everyone in the child’s life should be involved in the learning process.
Families enrolled in the program will engage in weekly activities; including but not limited to phonics, reading, early literacy, family bonding, writing skills, early author’s program, computers, fieldtrips to the library and much more. Our program is designed to promote healthy parenting practices in a safe and nurturing environment, while providing parents with knowledge regarding their child’s development. Bilingual instruction is available to support emergent bilinguals. Our program will enhance the whole family’s interest in literacy and promote long lasting success in school for the children we serve.
