FIRM is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a one-year grant from the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Community Benefit Program to fund a new program focusing on health outcomes within the Southeast Asian community at Summerset. The program will be called the Summerset Health Improvement Project (SHIP) and will focus on three main goals. The three goals are:
- To increase knowledge of the residents at Summerset about Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL)
- To provide direct physical activity opportunities for all ages, (walking group, cultural dance, cultural sports and more)
- To provide direct medical/dental services through mobile units provided by the Southern Baptist Convention on a quarterly basis
This will be an exciting program that will bring a major increase in health to the Summerset community! The SHIP begins December of 2016 and will operate for one year. We would like to thank Kaiser Permanente who also generously donated the funds to build the playground and Energi Stations at FIRM earlier this year! We look forward to building our partnership together to see that all communities have access to quality health services information, direct services and opportunities for physical activity for them and their families.
