As announced previously, FIRM is building a playground on its campus in partnership with KaBOOM! and Kaiser Permanente. We wanted to give you a quick update as to what is going on now and what the timeline will be moving forward. We are very excited about this project, as are the children in the community that come asking everyday when the playground will be done!
This week, the grass is being cleared for the playground footprint and the adult fitness equipment areas. We want to thank Serve Fresno and the many volunteers that have helped through the coordination of Artie Padilla over the last couple of weeks. This is no easy task and has required countless hours of manual labor! We hope to complete this work prior to April 1!
We have also been working with the City of Fresno to secure permits for the project. We have also gotten all required soil tests, utility checks and other site requirements for the build. These are just a small list of all the required activities along the way in the process!
So at this point, we will have concrete poured in the next couple of weeks and then be ready for the build days, which will begin on April 21! April 21 and 22 are preparation days and then the BIG BUILD DAY will be on April 23! On April 23, we will have 250 volunteers at FIRM to complete the entire playground! Lastly, on April 26, we will have our Grand Opening event, which will be the first day that children can play on the playground! We will keep you updated on these days on our Facebook page, so please like us on Facebook to follow the progress!
We are still raising funds for the playground project and have raised about $5,000 at this point. We need to raise $10,000 in total to cover our portion of the project! Please consider supporting this project financially as it will impact the lives of future generations here at FIRM! We are trying to raise these funds before April 1 so please go to the FIRM Playground donation page here to help! Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated!
