FIRM celebrates the exhibit opening of local artist Joel Pickford at the Fresno Art Museum on Friday, September 28, from 5-8 p.m. The exhibit will run from September 28 through January 6 at the Museum, just two blocks from FIRM at: 2233 N. First Street, Fresno. Appetizers will be served, and the reception is free to museum members and $10 to non-members.
Featured will be a display of Hmong pa’ndau stitchery, largely created by “Mamma Houa” Vang. Houa also serves as the lead gardener in FIRM’s Clovis Community Garden, travels often to share about FIRM’s work, and is known throughout the world for the quality of her artistic creations.
Tout Tou Bounthapanya, Franklin Yang, and other FIRM staff provided extensive help to Joel as he gathered photography for the project, and FIRM’s assistance is graciously acknowledged in Joel’s recently published book, “Soul Calling: a Photographic Journey Through the Hmong Diaspora.”
This book would be a wonderful holiday or personal gift, and FIRM receives a small part of each purchase when you click this link and purchase at Amazon.com:
