Two different student groups came to visit FIRM as a part of January classes learning about the unique challenges and strengths of Fresno’s immigrant communities. One class of 30 came from Eau Claire WI, and spent a day and a half learning about Fresno, the Hmong community, FIRM’s work. and hearing staff share stories. A smaller class from University of San Francisco (pictured below) came on Friday as well. At right, you see Franklin Yang sharing his story of the journey across Laos into Thailand and finally reaching the United States.
If you are interested in touring FIRM, receiving a basic cultural orientation, or eating a Lao lunch with a Lao dance lesson, we are happy to host groups of any size. For more information please contact Christine or Sophia at 487-1500.
