FIRM will be holding a winter day camp for Syrian children during the school holidays between December 17 and January 4. Many of the activities will be literacy focused, but other activities will offer enrichment and arts and crafts. It is anticipated that about 40 Syrian children from grades K through 8 will participate in the Camp each day.
The camp will meet Wednesday through Friday each week during the holiday break and FIRM is also planning special outings as well for the children. The camp will take place in the El Dorado Park community. Camp sessions will not be held on December 24 & 25, and December 31 and January 1.
This Winter Camp is made possible through a grant by Golden 1 Credit Union through their Golden 1 Community Grant Program.
This event will need many volunteers, especially since family and travel commitments may limit some volunteers’opportunities! To volunteer, sign up via FIRM’s new volunteer management system, and FIRM staff will let you know about specific needs and opportunities.
